Fuel Contaminated Sites

Slide

Meeting the requirements imposed by federal and state regulatory agencies requires accurate testing and reporting.

Monitoring is often required for underground storage tanks (UST) and leaking underground storage tanks (LUST). In many cases, cleanup costs and related analytical costs are reimbursable through a state program (i.e. PECFA). Davy Laboratories can provide analytical analyses for a wide variety of situations and spills, including gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

Commonly, additional monitoring is required when regulatory containment levels have been exceeded. Once an enforcement standard has been reached, long-term re-mediation and monitoring may be required. These precautions are set in place to determine the extent and rate at which re-mediation reduces the level of contamination. Monitoring must continue until the contaminant concentration is below the acceptable level (as dictated by state agencies).

We can also provide “fingerprint analysis” of the contaminated matrix and compare it to the suspect product; in many cases, this information will pinpoint the source of the contamination, as well as the responsible party.
